I’ve never been someone who loves a full face of makeup.
I like makeup that feels like an extension of my skin — not something sitting on top of it.
As I’ve gotten older, that’s mattered even more. I’m less interested in coverage and more interested in how things look in real life. In natural light. At school pickup. Running errands. Sitting across from someone at dinner.
These are the products I keep reaching for — the ones that feel easy, reliable, and just make me feel a little more put together without trying too hard.
The Everyday Base
Most days, I’m not looking for full coverage.
I’ve been using the
Perricone MD No Makeup Foundation Serum
and it’s exactly what it sounds like — light, skin-like, and forgiving.
It evens things out just enough without settling into fine lines or making my skin look heavy. It’s the kind of product that makes you look a little more awake, a little more polished, but still like yourself.
When I Want More Coverage
There are still days — events, dinners, anything where I want things to last — where I reach for something with more staying power.
That’s when I use
Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation.
It’s fuller coverage, more matte, and it holds up through everything. Definitely not an everyday product for me, but when I need it, it delivers.
A Little Color & Definition
I don’t do a lot of heavy contouring, but I do like a little warmth and definition.
The
Ulta Beauty Sculpt & Glow Baked Face Palette
has been an easy go-to. It gives just enough bronzer, blush, and highlight without being overly pigmented or hard to blend.
It’s the kind of palette that makes it hard to mess up — which is exactly what I want.
Brows (Because They Matter More Than I Thought)
Brows are one of those things I didn’t pay much attention to for a long time… until I realized how much they actually frame your face.
I’ve been using the
Anastasia Beverly Hills DIPBROW® Waterproof, Smudge-Proof Brow Pomade
to fill things in and shape them a bit.
It takes a light hand, but once you get used to it, it stays put all day and gives a more defined look without needing constant touch-ups.
Mascara That Actually Holds a Curl
I’ve tried a lot of mascaras over the years, and most of them are… fine.
But the
Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara
is one I keep coming back to.
It lifts, separates, and actually holds a curl — which makes a bigger difference than I realized. It opens up the eyes without clumping or feeling heavy.
The Lip Product I Always Have With Me
There are very few products I repurchase without thinking, but this is one of them.
The
Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey
is one of those universally flattering shades that somehow works no matter what.
It’s not quite a lipstick, not quite a balm — just enough color to pull everything together without feeling like you’re “wearing” something.
What I’ve Learned About Makeup
I don’t need a lot.
I don’t need every new product.
I just need a few things that:
- blend easily
- don’t sit in fine lines
- work with my skin, not against it
- make me feel like a slightly more polished version of myself
That’s it.
