I was never a morning person before.
I would wait till the last possible minute to jump out of bed and rush to get ready and out the door. I didn’t have a routine, unless you count running late as a routine. I heard about the 5am Club and all the successful women I admired swore by morning routines. The idea of getting out of bed at 5am sounded like absolute torture.
Then I fell in love with a man that wakes up before the sun….
He would wake up early to hit the gym before work. I’d stay in bed and sleep. I slowly started to get up a little earlier because he was not a fan of always being rushed and late in the mornings. Then we had our son. Like his dad he is an early morning man. I’m talking 4 or 5am every day.
I had to adjust.
I started with a 5:30am alarm. Once I got accustomed to being up earlier I noticed how nice it was to not be so rushed. I moved my alarm to 5am. Now my alarm is set for 4am. And guess what? I love it.
I move very slow in the morning. I’m like the sloth in Zootopia. But because I’m up early I have the time to move slow. Here is what my mornings look like during the week.
4am: Alarm goes off and at this point our son is typically awake. I hop up and get dressed in my workout clothes and get him and head downstairs. Get him his morning snack and turn on his favorite show.
4:15am: I get out my AG1 and have one scoop in 12oz of water. While I’m drinking my AG1 I listen to an Affirmation Babe podcast. I love starting my morning listening to a good affirmation. After that I play Wordle. Seriously. Every day. I might be the only person that still does this, but I enjoy it.

4:30am: I pack up my sons lunch for the day and fill up my workout water bottle with 18oz of water and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. I’m usually listening to a podcast while I’m getting everything ready. My favs are: The Rachel Hollis Podcast, The Mel Robins Podcast, The Skinny Confidential Him and Her, The Every Girl, and The Dream Bigger Podcast.
5:00am: After I’ve been up an hour I finally have some caffeine. I actually don’t reach for the coffee but instead had a pre-workout mix in about 8oz of water. My daughter is usually up by 5:15am, to get ready for school. So, I will chat with her before heading to the basement to start my workout.
5:30am: I start my workout with 10 minutes of yoga. I love yoga and how I feel after some stretches. I have been alternating my workouts. Typically day 1 is a leg workout, day 2 is cardio, day 3 is upper body, day 4 cardio, day 5 is full body. Weekends I do whatever feels best. I make sure I am hydrating durning my workout. I refill my workout bottle and add some LMNT. After my workout is done I do another 5-10 minutes of yoga and stretching. Then round it all out with a tapping session. Check out this YouTube channel. Gala Darling is my favorite.

7:00am: After my workout I have my protein shake. Then shower and get ready for the day.
7:30am: Take out the dogs.
8:00am: By now I have already had 66oz of water. Now I’m ready for a coffee. I get my son ready for the day and we are out the door at 8:30am.
And that’s my morning routine for the weekdays. What’s yours?
