Happy Spring! And for all my fellow astrology lovers—Happy Astrological New Year!!!
This year spring officially begins on March 20th. The astronomical first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere is marked by the spring equinox, which can fall on March 19, 20, or 21. Right after that we enter Aries season. Aries is the first sign in the zodiac wheel and marks an energetic, fiery restart—initiating a new cycle of life, growth, and cosmic energy.
If you’re feeling drained from winter or found yourself sliding on your New Year’s resolutions, this is the perfect time for a reset.
Listen, I love the beginning of the year. I buy new calendars and planners. I map out what I want to accomplish for the year. I make my intentions and vision boards.
But if I’m being completely honest… I’m still in full hibernation mode.
Eat all the comfort food. Snuggle under blankets. Take naps. Pretend productivity will magically happen while it’s 20 degrees outside.
Then there’s always a shift.
The weather breaks and the birds return. I wake up with the sun instead of before it. I can open my windows and let the sweet spring breeze move through the house. Suddenly I feel refreshed and ready to actually tackle my goals.
Here’s my simple spring reset to set myself up for the rest of the year.
1. Workout
Move your body first. It clears your own energy and gets you out of your head.
2. Light cleaning
Nothing huge—just the basics:
• open curtains
• wipe surfaces
• vacuum or sweep
• crack a few windows
The windows have likely been shut all winter. And if your household is anything like mine, your windows probably have fingerprints from tiny hands and dog noses.
Clean those windows so you have a clear view!
I love opening the windows and cleaning out the windowsills. Cleaning out all the junk that accumulated there over the winter feels amazing—and symbolic.
3. Sage cleanse
This one might be a little woo-woo for some people, but it’s part of my ritual.
Walk through the house slowly. Start at the front door and move room to room.
A simple thought you can hold:
“Anything heavy or stressful can leave this home.”
You don’t even have to say it out loud if that feels awkward. Just thinking it works.
4. Palo santo pass
On the second walk through the house, focus on what you want the space to feel like this season. Maybe:
• calm mornings
• supportive family energy
• creativity for writing
• stability and peace
As you walk through, repeat something simple like:
“This home is filled with peace, love, and luck.”
5. Light a candle for the day 🕯️
I have candles for every season, so it’s time to retire my winter scents and grab something lighter for spring.
My favorite spring scent is lemon.
I use a three-wick candle and a toothpick to write love, peace, and luck under each wick before lighting it.
Then I let it burn while I have my coffee or breakfast. It kind of anchors the reset for the day.
And that’s it.
It isn’t overly complicated or elaborate—just something I’ve been doing every spring that makes me feel good and ready to tackle whatever comes next.
Also… I love the way it makes my house smell.
Small disclaimer: not everyone loves the smell.
My husband says the sage smells like “old people and attics.” He hates it.
So I usually do that part when he’s out of the house for an hour or so.
Spring always reminds me that we’re allowed to start again.
If January didn’t go the way you planned, that’s okay. Life isn’t meant to reset only once a year. Sometimes the real reset happens when the sun comes back, the air feels lighter, and we finally feel ready to move again.
So open the windows, let the fresh air in, clear out what no longer serves you, and make space for what’s next.
Here’s to a season of growth, peace, and a little bit of luck.
