Trying to plan date nights when you have kids is not always an easy task.
There is the stress of finding someone to watch them, family or a paid sitter. Some kids have routines that you don’t want to disrupt. Then the fact that you’re exhausted after a long week. The thought of dealing with all those things can make you say screw it, we’re staying home.
But there are so many great dates ideas that don’t require a babysitter or disrupting anyone’s routine! My husband and I have gotten creative with our dates. Dates don’t have to be a Saturday night dinner out. They don’t even have to be at night. I honestly love our at home date nights and our day dates. Here are some of my favorites.
Living room Picnic
If you are on social media I’m sure you have seen the reels of couples clearing out the living room and creating a bed on the floor. We did this on New Year’s Eve and it was the best. We threw down some blankets, grabbed pillows, turned on the fireplace and laid on the floor watching movies all night. It was so much fun.

Breakfast and Shopping
Ok, this one does require a little change to your routine. If your kids are in school or daycare, try taking a Friday off work. We usually do this around the holidays because I love walking around shopping with my favorite holiday Starbucks latte. We take off a Friday and once the kids are out the door we go out for a big breakfast. I mean seriously…who doesn’t love breakfast food!!! Give me all the pancakes and waffles! After breakfast we grab a coffee and take our time walking around different stores.

Hot Ones with Your Hottie
Catchy little title right? If you have never watched Hot Ones, here is what you need to know. Every episode is a different celebrity being interviewed by the host Sean. While answering questions they are eating hot wings. There are ten wings and each sauce gets hotter as they go. It’s hilarious and Sean asks some of the most interesting questions. On a Saturday night we will grab wings from the local grocery store. They are plain and made fresh. Then we try out different sauces while we watch the show. You can actually buy the hot sauces used on the show on Amazon!

Game Night
We love a night of just sitting in the kitchen playing a game of cards. After the kids are in bed we sit down with some appetizers and drinks and spend hours playing cards and talking. No tv or interruptions. You don’t have to play cards, pick a game and just enjoy time together.

Outdoor Movie Night
Ok, we haven’t gotten to do this yet, but I am so excited for warm weather so we can. We have a wifi projector and it is one of the best things we’ve purchased. We initially bought it so we could move it around easily for our son to watch his shows. This little projector connects to your wifi and already has the streaming services loaded. You just have to sign in to your account. We have used it inside to watch movies and games. I cannot wait to take it outside this summer and enjoy a night outside. All you need is a fence or sheet you can hang to project the movie. Honestly you could just project it on the side of your house.
