I Believe in Magic

Do you believe in magic?

This time of year most would say yes.

The magic of Christmas. Santa. Elves on shelves reeking havoc.

I loved the idea of magic as a kid. I’m sure at some point as a kid you probably loved something that was of a “mystical” nature.

Most of us believed in Santa and left him milk and cookies. We would hide our baby teeth under our pillow for the tooth fairy. We would hunt for eggs hid by the Easter Bunny.

I grew up watching Hocus Pocus, Ferngully, Escape to Witch Mountain, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Bewitched, The Addams Family, Mary Poppins. Then as I got older shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, and movies like The Craft, Practical Magic…You get my point. I loved it all.

I became intrigued by the “woo woo” occult at a young age. Remember the Social Studies and Science Fairs? I did projects on the history of the Salem Witch Trials, Comparison of World Religions, How to Decode Your Dreams, Does Your Zodiac Sign REALLY Define Who You Are?

I had a bedroom filled with candles, incense, crystals, constellations on my ceiling, and more than one deck of tarot cards. I loved learning about astrology and birth charts. I read books about various religions. I wanted to understand all of it.

Much like the idea of manifesting, the idea of magic can be found throughout history and religions. Check out my post on manifesting for more details. I know many would argue and say magic isn’t real. The idea of spells or the ability to creat magic is blasphemous to some. I’m not here to tell anyone what to believe or debate.

But here is what I believe….

For me, magic is finding beauty, hope, inspiration, and love in the exciting and the mundane. Finding the love of my life, that was magical. When our children laugh, pure magic. Flowers blooming through a spring snow. Rainbows after a storm. Overcoming obstacles placed in our way and exceeding all expectations. Those things are magical. Believing in yourself and the ability to create a life you love. That’s magic.

What does magic mean to you? Do you believe in magic?

If you want to check out some of my favorite woo woo apps here is a list to get you started!
