Some Basic Nutrition Facts

,

Here is the truth…. I have never been a great cook. Seriously, when my husband and I got married he did all the cooking. I had a few things I could…..kinda….cook. It was just not something I ever enjoyed or cared about.

When we moved into our house two years ago I started wanting to try new ideas because I was in love with our kitchen. I love the island and how open it is. There is so much light and it opens up into the living room, so I can talk to my husband while I cook. I slowly started to try new recipes and attempt to make new things.

Last summer I discovered Skinnytaste.com and tried SO many of her recipes and loved them. I learned about substituting one thing for another to make recipes healthy. I used the Fitness Pal app to learn more about the macros of what I was putting into my body. The company I work for has a wellness program for employees and had a few online courses that explored things like nutrition, portions, and meal planning. Something that really amazed me was the categories that some of the foods I eat on the regular basis fall into. I had no idea bananas were high in carbs. I wanted to sum up this information I found in one spot and thought I would share.

This isn’t a full list by any means. I made the lists below based off the foods we ate in my home the most often.
